The Phantom of The Opera
The musical takes place at the end of the 19th century where the opera in Paris is still the place to go to experience fine culture. We get to follow the lives of the people that work on the opera as well as the life of the phantom who has a central role in this musical, which you’d probably guess by the name.
The main artists in this musical is the phantom and the ballet dancer Christine. We get to see how they build their relationship and how one of them struggles with feelings for the other.
Some might perceive it as a tragedy, but most people probably thinks of it as a different love story that shows love’s complexity and how it creates and builds up different expectations for the characters.
Just that the music is written by Andrew Lloyd Webber says a lot about the quality of the musical. There are a lot of dramatic songs, and the acting is completely flawless.
If you haven’t seen it, you’re definitely in for a treat!
this musical also takes place at the end of the 18th century before the French revolution, and as the name suggests, this is a musical that sheds light upon the lives of the miserable people in Paris during the end of the 18h century.
We get to follow the life of Jean Val Jean, a man who got arrested for stealing a lump of bread and who’s being chased throughout the musical by the man who imprisoned him, Javert. We get to know Fantine, a sewer and a single mother, who has her life taken away from her in a sense that is impossible to understand without having watched the musical. Then we follow her daughter Cosette and watch her fall in love while at the same time having to deal with the misery that surrounds her and everybody else in Paris by that time.
The musical is based on the novel written by Victor Hugo and has come to be a classic, or cult muscial even that you simply must see, even though you’re not that fond of musicals otherwise, because there are so much more to it than just singing and dancing around.
